Experience

I recently performed with the Southern Art Music Ensemble, a Jazz/Latin Fusion Sextet for an Honors Convocation in Atlanta for Mr. Ted Turner. March 2003, Classical Guitarist Maestro 
Carlos Barbosa-Lima gave the New York City Premiere of the First Movement of my Second Guitar Sonata at Carnegie Hall. I have, as guest performer with The Albany State University Jazz Ensemble, performed several concerts including two consecutive years at The Fletcher Henderson Jr. Jazz Festival at his birthplace, Cuthbert, Ga., the 30th Annual Jazz Festival at Macon, Ga. Solo Concert for The Easter Seal Society on the Town Square in Vienna, Georgia, played the Banjo in the Albany State University and Albany Symphony's co-production of George Gershwin's Opera "Porgy and Bess" and joined the Albany Symphony as guitarist in a performance with legendary entertainer, Ms. Debbie Reynolds.

I regularly perform as solo guitarist in Albany, GA at Boxers in The
Holiday Inn, Luke's Pub, Plantation Grill Restaurants.

Have independently authored and published the following materials:
A Guitarist's Practical Guide to the Modes - a Modes and Scales textbook
and an Interactive Software Application.
LickBuilder - software for composers and improvisers, available for Mac
and PC platforms.
I have been actively working as a musician and educator for the past 30
+ years.
I professionally teach and consult in the areas of guitar
performance, theory, and 
reading skills using traditional as well as modern tools and techniques and 
instructional materials, which I have designed. I regularly conduct performance, 
composition and theory
workshops. I work with students one-on-one, in group settings, 
via
e-mail worldwide, and through the use of materials I have created and designed for 
my web site. I regularly teach and work with professional
sequencing and notation software packages such as Finale, Power Tracks Pro, Band-In-A-Box, etc. I am skilled at designing web 
pages with audio
using various software packages. I maintain a large personal library of
musical scores, recordings and professional journals.

Other skills: studio guitarist on various recording projects,
transcription and arranging. As a performer I have toured Central
America twice and performed throughout the United States. My company,
CARMA Productions is a certified Roland Corporation Developer Company
since May 1995.
 

Okaloosa-Walton Community College, Niceville, FL., Adjunct Faculty 1/98 - 2/02

Teaching students on an individual basis and in group situations in:
Classical, Jazz and Blues Guitar, Jazz Theory & Arranging and
Composition, with the aim of preparing the student for an upper-level
music program at a four-year university. Performing guitar in the pit
orchestra in the OWCC productions of Leonard Bernstein's "West Side
Story", and Marvin Hamlish's "A Chorus Line", led the rhythm section as
Guitarist for legendary Flutist Herbie Mann with the Northwest Florida
Symphony Orchestra and performed Carulli's Guitar Concerto in A with the
Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. I was recently commissioned and
had a concert premiere at OWCC of the First Movement of my Second Guitar
Sonata for the legendary Brazilian Classical Guitarist, Carlos Barbosa-Lima.
 

Florida State University, School of Music, Center for Music of the Americas
Instructor/Graduate Assistant 9/92 - 5/94

While attending graduate school, I was awarded an assistantship under
the direction of Dr. Robert Smith, Director of The Center for Music of
the Americas. Duties included: teaching Caribbean music ensembles, Blues
Lab classes and Mariachi ensembles. Performing with various CMA
ensembles for functions held by the university and outside organizations,
consulting and administering software and hardware needs and training on
Macintosh, IBM and Amiga computers for midi/composition,
desktop publishing and bookkeeping software. Designing and giving
multimedia presentations on topics such as Neoclassicism in 20th Century
Latin American Music.
 

Gulf Coast Community College, Panama City, FL., Adjunct Faculty 9/86 - 4/89

As classical guitar and electric bass instructor, I taught students on
an individual basis, with the aim of preparing the student for an
upper-level music program at a four-year university. I conducted group
workshops for all students away from regular class time, tutoring them
in theory, functional harmony and coaching both pianists and voice
majors on upcoming performances. I was a member of the school combo that
accompanied the Vocal Ensemble and guitarist and assistant conductor for
the Jazz Ensemble.

Guitar instruction in various styles for beginning through advanced
students that have successfully placed at FSU Classical Guitar Program.

CARLOS & FRIENDS, 1/90 - present

Band Leader, Guitarist, Lead Vocalist, Composer, Arranger.

This three-piece jazz, blues and rock trio is currently performing
throughout the Southeastern United States, entertaining crowds at
Festivals, nightclubs, and private engagements up to 5,000 seating.
